Certainly not the last of the covers but enough for now, yet I might still post a comp. of tunes that Lee himself has covered since its sitting on my desktop at the moment. Request it and if there's enough interest I'll upload it. Now who would of thought of B.B. King turning up in a mix of Hazlewood tunes and who's that helping out Beck with the cover of If it's Monday Morning.

Total Lee 5 - More Songs of Lee Hazlewood

Another three for your listening pleasure....

First up a heavier sounding comp. and this one includes the Fleshtones Peter Zaremba so you know it's worth listening to and the inevitable Primal Scream cover which fits well into this mix.

You'll notice once again that I've included a non Hazlewood tune, Morning Dew (a Dodson, Rose song) which is on Lee's Love and other Crimes album and this ones a great version I'm sure you'll enjoy.

More Hazlewood

Been sitting on 4 more compilations and as soon as I have some free time and compose the covers I'll post all 4 at the same time and put it to rest for a while. Future post will then include a couple of Jazz Butcher and Sixto Rodriguez concerts and even a John Foxx show. Now if that isn't a mixed bag I don't know what is. Stay Tuned...

Who got wind of the inclusion of the Putman, Sherrill tune on the last post, as I thought that it would have prompted some comments but since it didn't I'm going to do it again. What you have here is another good mix with some of the guitar tunes Lee composed early in his career which provides a contrast to some of his more popular songs but as with all of the covers presented here, the musicians have added their own distincive touch. Total Lee 3 - More Songs of Lee Hazlewood

Here's a third collection of covers, once again with some great tracks for you listening pleasure.
Standouts for me would be the arrangement on the Ronnie Dove track as well as the inclusion of My Elusive Dreams from Jack Palance although I can't for the life of me imagine Jack standing over a microphone and singing the song. As I mentioned earlier, there's plenty more so in time I'll put another collection together and post it here. Enjoy...

Lee Hazlewood Live Royal Festival Hall London 2004

I've been lucky enough to be given two bootleg recordings of Lee's over the years and although my collection of his is fairly complete you can't take away the strength of a live performance to bring out the best in an artist. The following is such a great listen especially the banter between songs, and it's just a terrible shame that we will never have the opportunity to witness such a legend again that was Lee Hazlewood. By the way the other recording Live in Darmstadt is already posted over at realmofx.blogspot.com and I would certainly appreciate it if any other recordings were to see the light of day from either Lee or Nancy as I'm sure they exist somewhere.

Total Lee 2 - More Songs Of Lee Hazlewood

It’s been a year now since Lee passed away and I glimpsed a number of his releases in my local JB store, so if you live here in Aus there’s no excuse – go out and buy them.
A little harder to find these days might be the compilation Total Lee which is a great release on its own with some great bands who put their spin on the Hazlewood tunes. Now here’s my take on a second collection, songs that sit well against each, some a little more obscure than others but all show an appreciation for Lee himself and on this his anniversary is there any better way to pay tribute than to listen to his songs in a different light. By the way Ed Kuepper is included simply because I think he’s fantastic with anything he does but you can be the judge in this instance. Enjoy.

Also there are plenty more covers for a 3rd and 4th compilation if there is interest.
